Rebate swap for solar social housing offer

You may soon be able to get a free 3 kilowatt solar system installed on your home.

If you are an eligible tenant living in a suitable property owned by NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) and managed by NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ), you may soon be able to swap your Low Income Household Rebate for a free, fully installed, 3 kilowatt solar system.

This solar system will unlock long-term energy savings and help reduce your environmental footprint, while you remain a tenant in the property.

We expect the offer to open later in 2023.

Check your eligibility

To be eligible, you must:

  • receive the Low Income Household Rebate
  • agree not to receive the rebate for 10 years
  • hold a valid Pensioner Concession Card or Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card
  • reside in a property owned by NSW Land and Housing Corporation (LAHC) and managed by NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ)
  • live in a free-standing house ( villas, townhouses and units are not eligible for this offer)
