The NSW Hydrogen Strategy sets out our $3 billion vision and path to develop a thriving green hydrogen industry in NSW. Our nation-leading strategy sets out policies to:
- provide incentives of up to $4 per kilo of green hydrogen
- deliver our 2030 stretch targets of 110,000 tonnes of annual green hydrogen production and 700 megawatts (MW) of electrolyser capacity
- drive decarbonisation in the hard-to-abate transport, industrial and energy sectors to help us reach net zero by 2050.
The strategy includes 60 actions designed to drive down the cost of green hydrogen production and support industry development by:
- providing green hydrogen producers with up to $1.5 billion in green hydrogen electricity concessions
- delivering the NSW Renewable Fuel Scheme, with a target of 8 million gigajoules (about 67,000 tonnes) of green hydrogen produced by 2030
- funding $109 million for 3 hydrogen hubs with a combined output of 6,795.5 tonnes of green hydrogen per year
- providing funding of over $3 million to develop innovative hydrogen technology, including advanced hydrogen storage materials and ultra-efficient electrolysers
- providing funding of $25 million for a Hydrogen Centre of Excellence, to train the next generation of hydrogen experts.
