The Net Zero Planning Grant round 2 is a unique opportunity for eligible NSW businesses to receive up to $25,000 in funding, to cover up to 50% of the cost to strategically plan for and progress their path to net zero. Advance your net zero planning, identify cost-saving opportunities, improve resilience, and stay competitive in a rapidly evolving market with expert guidance and support.
This funding is part of the Business Decarbonisation Program, a $22 million initiative to help businesses plan and take practical, low-cost steps towards decarbonisation.
What’s included in the grant funding
The grant is provided in 2 stages:
Milestone 1: up to $2,000, covering up to 50% of the costs, to identify the key actions needed to advance your net zero journey. The action categories include:
- Strategy (including climate-related risk and opportunity assessment)
- Governance
- People and capability
- Data
- Targets
- Net zero action planning
- Finance
- Stakeholder engagement
- Reporting.
Milestone 2: up to $23,000, covering up to 50% of costs, to:
- support detailed work in one or more of the action categories to address any gaps within your NSW operations. This may include developing a greenhouse gas inventory, a net zero action plan, climate risk and opportunity assessment, or other eligible net zero planning activities. This work must follow the key actions of the Net Zero Business Guide and align with nationally and/or internationally recognised frameworks.
- use the net zero planning tool to reassess your organisation’s net zero progress at the end of Milestone 2, focusing on activities delivered under this milestone.
A central feature of the Net Zero Planning Grant is the Net Zero Business Guide (the Guide). The Guide brings together leading national and international net zero frameworks into a single, practical resource that helps organisations assess their current position and plan their next steps towards net zero.

Who can apply
To be eligible for the Net Zero Planning Grant round 2, you must:
- have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be registered for goods and services tax (GST)
- be a business with a NSW site address and business operations in NSW
- spend at least $200,000 annually on energy bills at a single site in NSW or a total of $500,000 across multiple sites in NSW. This includes all purchased fuels.
You are ineligible for this Grant if you:
- or any of your related entities, have received or are going to receive funding under the Net Zero Planning Grant in this round or a previous round
- have received or are going to receive other funding from the NSW Government for the same activities
- are a Commonwealth, state, or local government entity
- are a Safeguard facility under the Australian Government’s Safeguard Mechanism
- are, or any of your related entities are, as a Group 1 reporting entity (under Australian Securities Investment and Commission Requirements), required to prepare a sustainability report to comply with section 292A of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).

Success stories
Our round 1 grantees have used the grant to better understand their emissions, assess climate risks and opportunities, and develop the plans and capabilities needed for future emissions reduction.
Explore some of the success stories below to read what recipients have achieved.
Lyka
With support from round 1, pet food manufacturer Lyka laid the foundations for its net zero journey. The project delivered:
- a greenhouse gas emissions inventory, aligned with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol
- a climate risk and opportunity assessment, aligned with Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards
- emissions reduction targets, following the Science Based Targets initiative
- a net zero action plan, supported by the Net Zero Business Guide.
As a result, Lyka gained greater visibility of emissions across its operations and value chain, strengthened its understanding of climate-related risks and opportunities, and established a clear roadmap for future emissions reduction. The project has also improved the company's preparedness for future climate-related disclosure requirements and strengthened its business resilience.

This guide aims to demystify the Net Zero planning process and allows for organisations to take meaningful climate action.
This guide has provided Lyka with a clear and actionable framework for the development of our Net Zero Strategy from initial assessment to execution and ongoing monitoring.
Alsco Uniforms
Commercial laundry operator Alsco Uniforms participated in round 1 to support net zero action planning at its Campbelltown facility. The project followed the Net Zero Business Guide to deliver an emissions reduction action plan and identify a preferred pathway to net zero. As a result, Alsco Uniforms gained a clearer understanding of its emissions reduction opportunities and established a roadmap to guide future decision-making and investment in decarbonisation.
Haris Murtaza: Today we’re at our Alsco Uniforms Alexandria facility, which is based
right here in Sydney, New South Wales.
So this facility is a commercial laundry and processing facility.
It washes, dries, irons and processes linen for our customers across the Sydney metropolitan area.
So Alsco believes that using less resources is better for the planet.
So in terms of our sustainability journey, we want to be better in terms of our community, our planet and our people.
In terms of our sustainability goals we want to increase our energy efficiency emissions reduction by 20%.
We want to generate net zero waste, and we want to have 100% ethical supply chain partners.
Alsco Uniforms took up New South Wales Government funding and support for the Net Zero Planning Grant that was conducted at our Alsco Uniforms Campbelltown facility.
The greatest learnings from that grant were that at a business as usual trajectory, we're already on our way to decarbonisation and net zero, especially around the phasing out of gas in 2035 and all the plans that we've got in place.
It also showed us that we needed to look at our transportation and our diesel consumption, and it showed us that we need to start seriously considering what the impact of higher energy costs will be on the business, as well as the positive
that the grid will decarbonise and what that would look like for the business as well.
So there was a lot of learnings for us.
There was a lot of things that we can put into a long term plan.
It also was a testament that what we're doing in the short term is really working,
but we've got to take some bold steps in the near future towards our net zero journey.
Sustainability and decarbonisation is good for business.
Through our decarbonisation and energy efficiency journey Alsco Uniforms has saved over $1 million in energy costs.
Reduce our energy consumption by 22% and that reduced our emissions by 32%.
We're on our way to science based targets.
We are looking at a full decarbonisation program, but taking smaller steps and setting near-term targets.
Businesses in NSW need to understand that there's so much support out there, even if it's just in the in advice consultancy, design grants for feasibility or even implementation.
And because we've gone through the entire lifecycle of grants with the New South Wales government, we realised that there's so much opportunity out there to partner
with New South Wales Government, with DCCEEW and do a lot of good projects.
So all you have to do is reach out and look at what options and funding is out there and start taking some action.
Because at the end of the day, you're going to save a lot of money if you take action now.
Delta Laboratories
Cosmetics manufacturer Delta Laboratories used support from round 1 to progress net zero planning activities across all nine elements of the Net Zero Business Guide, including net zero action planning, strategy, governance, people and capability, finance and other elements.
As a result, they established a comprehensive foundation for its net zero transition, strengthening organisational capability, embedding climate considerations into business planning, and positioning the company to implement emissions reduction initiatives across its operations.

Jayanth Das, Delta Laboratories: One of the key benefits for Delta was having a common reference point.
The Net Zero Business Guide provided a structural framework that helped us take a step back and look at Net Zero planning holistically.
Not just emission-wise but governance, data, targets, action planning.
It confirmed where we were already progressing and highlighted areas we needed to strengthen.
It helped connect existing initiatives such as solar water management, energy efficiency into broader Net Zero pathways rather than treating them as isolated sustainability projects.
Corey Won: Following the guide allowed for thoughtful input from experts across the business allowing for certain areas to be revealed that might have been overlooked.
The guide also provides strategic clarity and has helped Lyka create clear objectives and measures towards our Net Zero Strategy and action plan across nine different pillars that are relevant across national and international frameworks.
