Installed solar systems

What happens to my solar system after the offer closes?

You keep your solar system and enjoy the benefits as long as you remain in your house.

What happens if there is a problem with my solar system after the offer closes?

Contact the company that installed your solar system if you have any problems with the solar system. The installer is required by law to abide by the contract and the warranty that you signed with them when the system was installed.

Can I have the solar system removed and go back to receiving the Low Income Household Rebate?

No. When you signed up for the offer, you agreed to not receive the Low Income Household Rebate for 10 years. After 10 years you can start receiving the Low Income Household Rebate again.

Can I receive the Low Income Household Rebate if I move or have exceptional circumstances?

Please email us at [email protected] to discuss your circumstances.

When can I receive the Low Income Household Rebate again?

You will receive the Low Income Household Rebate again after 10 years. The NSW Government will direct electricity retailers to reinstate your Low Income Household Rebate payments at that time. You should receive these payments automatically in your electricity bill.

Awaiting solar system installation

Can I still apply for the offer?

No, applications closed on Friday 5 April 2024.

If I applied by 5 April 2024, can you guarantee I will receive a solar system by 30 June 2024?

No. We cannot guarantee all people who apply will receive a solar system. We assess all applications for eligibility and suitability. As part of the application process, your installer will check if your house is suitable for solar. This ensures they can safely install your solar system and that your system makes enough energy to reduce your electricity bills. If you are eligible but your house is not suitable you will not receive a solar system. You will instead retain your Low Income Household Rebate.

If you would like to know how your application is progressing, please email us at [email protected]

Can I withdraw my application and keep receiving the Low Income Household Rebate?

If your solar system has not been installed and you would like to withdraw from the offer, please contact your solar supplier as soon as possible and email us at [email protected]. If you withdraw your application, you will continue to receive the Low Income Household Rebate instead of receiving a free solar system.

What happens if my application for the rebate swap for solar offer is successful but my solar system cannot be installed by 30 June 2024?

Solar systems cannot be installed after 30 June 2024. We cannot guarantee all people who have successfully applied will receive a solar system. Installer availability, house assessments and weather can delay installations, but we will work with installers and customers wherever possible to try and complete all installations by the end of the program.

If your solar system is not installed by 30 June 2024, you will continue to receive the Low Income Household Rebate instead.
