Do these 3 things and you could save over $200 on average* on your energy bills.
1. Check you’re on the best energy plan
There are 2 different ways you can check.
Contact your energy retailer
Call your energy retailer (the company that sends you your energy bills) and ask about a better energy plan or discounts. They’ll tell you if you’re not on the cheapest plan and how to switch.
Compare energy plans
Use the Australian Government website Energy Made Easy to find the best plan. A simple switch could save you hundreds. If you need help using the website, call Service NSW on 13 77 88 or visit a Service NSW Centre.
Confused about your energy bills? You're not alone!
Understand your plans, bills and costs to start saving.
2. Find financial support
Check if you’re eligible for a NSW Government energy rebate or crises support payment.
3. Do simple actions at home
Small actions add up to make a big impact on your energy bills.
Close doors, windows, blinds and curtains during the day
This keeps heat out during hot days.
Open windows at night
This lets in the cool evening breeze.
Use fans before air conditioners
Fans only cost about 2 cents an hour to run and can make the room feel about 3°C cooler. Set ceiling fans to spin counter clockwise (summer setting).
Set your air conditioner between 23-26°C
Every degree higher can save about 10% on your air conditioning bill.
Shut doors to unused rooms
Only cool in the spaces you're using.
