1. Check you’re on the best energy plan

You can either:

Contact your energy retailer

Call your energy retailer (the company that sends you your energy bills) and ask about a better energy plan or discounts. They’ll tell you if you’re not on the cheapest plan and how to switch.  

Compare energy plans

Use the Australian Government website Energy Made Easy to find the best plan. A simple switch could save you hundreds. If you need help using the website, call Service NSW on 13 77 88 or visit a Service NSW Centre

3. Do simple actions at home

Make these small changes to save money and stay warm this winter.

Heat yourself before you heat the room

Layer up with warm clothes and use a hot water bottle or a blanket to stay warm.

At night, close windows, curtains and blinds to keep your home warm

This will let in the sun to naturally warm your home.

Air conditioner

Set your air conditioner or heater between 18-21°C

Every degree lower can save about 10% on your heating bill.

Block cold draughts

Use a door snake or rolled up towel under windows and doors to block draughts.

Only heat the rooms you’re using
