Metering and monitoring

Supporting NSW businesses to save energy through low-cost improvements

Latest update

Metering plan implementation grants are now open. The application closing date has been extended to 5 pm AEST on 29 July 2024.

Understanding your business's energy use can help you reduce energy costs and lower emissions. You can achieve this by installing an energy metering and monitoring system, which will collect and use data to track and improve your energy performance.

How it works

Metering and monitoring systems are built using hardware and software that measure energy use on your business’s site.

These systems are an essential part of good facility management. They provide valuable data to measure and optimise your business’s equipment performance and support better management of energy use, costs and improved systems.

Metering and monitoring can help your business:

  • operate your facility more effectively and improve energy productivity
  • cut costs and save energy
  • identify low-cost improvements to your systems and processes
  • comply with regulations
  • track and report your energy performance
  • get funding for energy efficiency upgrades from government-backed schemes.
