Kick-start your EV fleet with latest funding round, heavy vehicles now eligible

22 December 2025

The latest round of the NSW Government’s EV fleets incentive is now open, with $5 million in kick-start co-funding available to help businesses and organisations adopt electric vehicles.

The funding is designed to help organisations pilot electric vehicles (EVs) and overcome the initial financial hurdle, by providing support for the purchase or lease of up to 15 battery EVs (BEVs) and the installation of smart charging infrastructure.

Importantly, for the first time it includes eligibility for heavy vehicles up to 23 tonnes of gross vehicle mass, broadening the program for more businesses to transition their fleets.

By lowering upfront costs, the program is accelerating adoption of cleaner, more sustainable transportation solutions across NSW, contributing to the state's net-zero goals.

Eligible vehicles and incentives for this round include:

  • $5,000 for passenger vehicles, SUVs with RRP of $40,000 or more
  • $5,000 to $8,000 for light commercial vehicles between 2.5t and 3.5t
  • $10,000 to $50,000 for heavy commercial vehicles between 3.5t - 23t
  • 50 per cent of costs per charger port installed, up to $60,000 depending on the charger and vehicle type.

To date the EV fleets incentive program has awarded $46 million in funding to support the procurement of over 5,300 BEVs and 2,400 chargers, accounting for 5.2 per cent of all EV registrations in NSW.

This round of funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, making it a non-competitive option for eligible organisations, available until May 2026 or until the funding is exhausted.

Businesses can check their eligibility and access information on how to apply for funding by visiting our webpage.

The NSW Government has a range of grants programs that are boosting EV uptake by increasing charging infrastructure across the state. In addition to the EV fleets incentive, funding has been awarded under the EV ready buildings grant and for Destination, Fast and Kerbside charging.

Director Transport Electrification and Safeguard Terry Niemeier said:

“By extending these incentives to eligible heavy vehicles, the NSW Government is enabling businesses to make deep, impactful cuts to their transport emissions and accelerate the state’s drive toward net zero.

“By making the switch to electric vehicles more accessible and cost-effective, we're not only improving air quality but also driving economic growth and innovation in the transportation sector.

“Businesses taking advantage of this funding can reduce their carbon footprint, lower operational costs, and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability which is a win-win.”
