Compressed air systems use a lot of energy – up to 10% of Australia’s industrial electricity use.
You can upgrade your compressed air system so that it becomes more energy efficient. You can also save money by accessing incentives available under the NSW Government Energy Savings Scheme. Find an approved supplier in your region below.
An upgrade is when you replace equipment or modify an existing system so that it becomes more energy efficient.
Examples of modifications include, but are not limited to:
- repairing air leaks
- lowering the intake air temperature
- lowering the delivery pressure
- installing variable speed drives
- setting up or adjusting controls to match air compressor demand and to minimise hours of operation and wastage
- installing heat recovery systems to utilise the low-grade waste heat in other applications.

Access the incentive
You can check your eligibility and access the financial incentives by contacting an approved supplier in your region. Get the best offer by contacting multiple suppliers.
Contact an approved supplier as early as possible before you begin an upgrade project. The supplier will:
- explain the process
- get you the incentive.
You may need to measure your compressed air system’s energy use for some time before and after the upgrade. This can be done by submetering or checking your energy bills.
