Energy market reform

The NSW Government is working together with the Commonwealth and other state governments to improve the national energy market. The national energy market includes the National Electricity Market (NEM) and existing and emerging retail and wholesale gas markets planned or in operation in various jurisdictions.

The Ministerial Council on Energy (MCE) is the national policy and governance body for the national energy market. The MCE comprises Energy Ministers from the Commonwealth, state and territory governments.

The MCE is pursuing an extensive energy market reform program.
